Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick Masochist

My love of these liquid lipsticks have not died down yet although I must resist getting every shade available. The moment Beautylish informed me there were stocks of Velour Liquid Lipsticks available I rush to the site. It was a tough decision not to pick up Gemini as well but somehow I think that shade will probably not look good on me.

Still wet

Dried down

I have tried a few matte liquid lipsticks and these are by far the best in formula. They don't look or feel dry after the day wears on. They reapply beautifully and are opaque at first swipe.

What a your favourite liquid matte lipsticks?

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink 150 Luxuriant, 152 Choquant and 154 Experimente

I am into liquid lipsticks so it should not be a surprise that I would get these the moment they came out.

I have asked Lady Snow to kindly model these lipsticks for me and she has graciously accepted.

Rouge Allure Inks come is a frosted glass bottle. They have a typical doe foot applicator. I do find it difficult applying precisely with it, you definitely need a lip brush.

As you can see, I picked the jewel tones. I am all about the reds.

For the price I paid, I was hoping for something more than a typical liquid lipstick. I was hoping to be wowed by these but they aren't wowing me like I wished they would. These Chanel Rouge Allure Inks feel lightweight and they take a few second to dry down. I need a few passes to get them to look really opaque. Although they aren't sucking the moisture out of my lips, at times they look a tad dry on my lips but after reapplication, they look fine. They are able to withstand drinks of water and light snacks without oil but they are not transfer proof.

I am not sure why but I can't seem to get precise application with any of these even though I use a lip liner first. From afar they look alright but when taking close up pictures I can see howmessy my lip line is. Experimente is my least favourite, it did not apply as easily as compared to the other two. It took me a few passes to get it to look even.

Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows 2

This was one palette I did not intend to purchase. I was at Sephora hunting for the Urban Decay shadows when I saw this. Looking at the bright colours probably short circuited my brain and instead of going to the safe but definitely usable Shadows 1 palette, I said what the heck, let's play with colours!

The Artist Shadows palette comes in a heavy duty paper packaging. It feels sturdy.

Left to right: I 872 Pearly Pink, ME 910 Electric Magenta and S 924 Purple

Left to right: D552 Crystalline Gray Beige and ME 302 Peacock and ME 232 Turquoise Blue
These colours prove to be quite a challenge for me to use even though I was first attracted turquoise and duochrome dark brown to the . The first try ended with very tired looking eyes. ME 302 strangely named Peacock fails to show its lovely duochromeness on my lids! On me, it is dark sooty grey.

ME 302 Peacock
ME 232 Turquoise Blue over Peacock
D552 Crystalline Gray Beige lightly highlighting my brow bones. Urban Decay eye liner Electric and ME302 Peacock over it.

I am much happier with this version.

Left to right: ME 512 Golden Beige, ME 700 Amber and ME 930 Black Purple
ME 930 Black Purple close to lash line and blend

ME Amber over ME 930 and blend some more. ME 512 Golden Beige on brow bones for highlight

SGD $69

At SGD $69 you get 9 shadows which I feel is a great deal. My experiences with Make Up For Ever eye shadows have been really good but I am a tad disappointed with Electric Magenta and Purple which did not live up to expectations.

I always believed that I could only pull off a glossy nude shade and that matte nudes would just look sickly on me until I started experimenting with matte liquid lipsticks.

To me a good nude liquid lipstick has a little bit of rosiness to it, isn't too pale or dark for my NC30 to 35 warm skin tone.

Based on formula, Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick wins the whole lot. It is not drying, it fades nicely, it does not appear patchy during application and when I reapply it looks like I applied it for the first time.

Based on colour, I like NYX Cannes and Soft-spoken best. They look natural on my lips and give me a polished without overdone overall look.
