Celebrating my 41st birthday (Picture heavy post)

I am not sure if you have noticed but my posts have become slightly erratic lately. I have been so busy with work and rehearsals. I finally have a bit of breather to sit down and write this post. My posts will probably still be irregular and I won't be posting until January because I am going to Japan! I have always wanted to go and I'll be off next week so sayonara for a little while.

Yup you read it right my dears I'm now 41 years young. Not any wiser by any means but a lot happier. I just celebrated my birthday last Friday. It was a quiet one since I was also preparing for my performance on Saturday.

Hubs took me to Assembly Coffee for a couples only brunch before taking me to my favourite place Gardens By The Bay. Then it was back home to my son for birthday cake and family time. DS was so sweet to offer his services for the day so I did not have to lift a finger. I felt like a queen.

The food at Assembly Coffee was delicious. The bun from the pulled pork sandwich was pillowy soft and the green apples inside added that delicious tang. I am a waffle and pancake girl, so that waffle was devoured in less than 10 minutes.

And here is a picture taken from my performance. I really love this picture.

Anyway I am very thankful for what I have. A loving husband who supports me in all I do, a darling son and finally my two cats who have somehow completed our family within the three short months of being with us. I am thankful for being able to do things I love and the opportunities given to me. I am also very thankful for having this platform to express my thoughts and having you dear readers who bother to read my nonsense.

I wish you an advance Merry Christmas,  will see you in the new year!

Tom Ford Cream Color for eyes 04 Spice

Here is the second gorgeous pot of Tom Ford Cream Color for eyes in Spice.

Spice is an opaque creamy warm metallic brown that may not suit everyone's skin tone. But I love it. It blends very well on my lids and there is time to blend before it sets. It is smudge proof and crease proof and stays on until I take it off. It also plays well with other cream and powder products. It layers on well without looking cakey. So it can be applied sheer or layered on for more pow!

Here is my simple look. Spice over NARS eye primer.

A little Make Up Forever Artist Shadows in Celestial Earth on the outer corner of the eyes.

Between Platinum and Spice, I can see why Platinum is more popular. It is more wearable. These are luxury cream shadows. To me, they are worth it. Wearing them is a joy.

US $42.

Tom Ford Lip Color Matte 04 Pussycat

I seriously could not resist Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Pussycat. I wanted something other than a red, a more wearable color and the name simply said buy me. I think my Lady Snow agrees with me too.

Pussy Cat is a mauve pink. It has enough colour so it does not wash me out. It is a very easy colour to wear.

When compared with Black Dahlia, Pussy Cat is a much easier colour to wear.  still prep my lips with my lip balm but I did not bother to exfoliate my lips. The finish is a semi matte finish. It is creamy and opaque. The best part, it reapplies beautifully unlike Black Dahlia which became darker with every application.

Out of the three colours, I find Pussycat to be the least fussy to apply and a really joy to wear. It felt comfortable and did not dry out my lips. Black Dahlia and Velvet Cherry are stunning shades, they however need more care when applying. If you want a slap and go colour, I definitely suggest Pussy Cat but if you love jewelled colors and don't mind putting in a little more effort, Black Dahlia and Velvet Cherry are worth that effort.

The price tags for these pretties are steep though. I bet you can find equally stunning shades for less but it is Tom Ford. The price tag comes with a luxurious mahogany looking lip casing.

As an added bonus, I pulled out my other Tom Ford Lip Color Indian Rose for a comparison. As you can see Pussycat is more mauvey whereas Indian Rose has a more warm tone to it.

Tom Ford Lip Color Matte 08 Velvet Cherry

The second color from Tom Ford's Lip Color Matte that I want to introduce to you is Velvet Cherry. If you read my blog long enough you would know I cannot resist a red lipstick. Something about wearing red lipstick makes me feel invincible. With a good red lipstick on, I am ready to take on the world. Yeah!

Velvet Cherry is a deep red shade. It appears brighter in this picture because I used Burberry's Lip Pencil in Brick Red to line my lips. I find deep reds a lot easier to wear as opposed to a chilli red shade.

Like Black Dahlia, this has a creamy and opaque formula. Again with a shade like this, lips have to be prepped well. I am not sure why but the first time a wore this shade out, I didn't like how it looked after I reapplied it again. My lips felt dry. When I applied over my lips, it emphasized my dried lips and it did not look as good as when I applied it freshly. The next time round after applying a bit of lip balm, it looked much better.
