Sponsored Post: Make Up For Ever High Definition Pressed Powder

(Taken from the press kit)

Everyone wanted it, so MAKE UP FOR EVER made it! With the same airy finesse, the same HD invisibility and unique sensoriality, the HD Pressed Powder is a handy, on-the-go pressed version of the cult HD Loose Powder. Extra-fine and talc-free, it shows no texture on the skin and fades lines optically, without settling inside the skin. The universal shade is totally transparent on the skin, giving every complexion skin-texture perfection, a unified look and imperceptible natural matte-ness that does not dry out. The powder micro-particles act like soft focus effects on the skin to reveal a marvellously luminous complexion. Easy to carry wherever you go, the ultra-flat ergonomic case has a large mirror for you to do touch-ups at any time of day, just to be sure your complexion never lets you down.

To compact a powder, you need to blend ingredients that are actually incompatible with HD fineness and transparency. Yet, the HD Pressed Powder is able to provide a look every bit as fine as the airy Loose Powder. So what is the secret to this technological wizardry? The composition of the powder has been entirely redesigned to remove the heavyweight opacifying ingredients that are usually found in compacts and instead, a trio of meticulously selected powders have formed this texture-free formula:
• Silica injects comfort into the skin for an ultra-airy sense of  softness and a flawless soft-focus glow.
• Synthetic mica ensures the finish is transparent, smooth and  even, with a silky soft feel.
• Silicone powders erase lines and wrinkles and unify the skin  texture while giving a matte and luminous finish.
• Hyaluronic acid reinforces the comfort and sensoriality of the  texture thanks to its anti-drying properties.

I already own the loose powder version of the Make Up For Ever HD powder so I was delighted to be able to receive the pressed powder version which makes it very handy to tote around in my make up pouch for touch ups.

You can read my review of it the Loose Powder version here.

Like the loose powder version, the HD Pressed Powder is very finely milled and soft to the touch. It gets a bad rep sometimes because people tend to use too much of it. When you use too much of it, you will have a very obvious white cast. The trick is to use very little. Use a very soft brush, shake of the excess and gently tap the brush on your face. When applied correctly, it gives me a soft focused look.

My skin is now normal to slightly oily and the HD pressed powder works well on me. I only see I break through of oil after about 4 to 5 hours when I pair this with my liquid foundations. However when my skin was at its oiliest state last April, this did not do much to control the oil and mattify it for a long time. So I will only recommend this if you have normal skin (lucky you). I'm not sure about ladies with dry skin conditions though. Has anyone with dry skin tried this, I would love to hear what you feel about it.

  1. Hey Jacqueline, I definitely prefer pressed powders to loose ones (spill risk. I'm that clumsy)! I tried the loose version. It's fine, but for me it stops there. I think I'm too spoiled by Guerlain!

    1. Sunny, MUFE actually made the hd loose powder in a spill proof container. I tested it out and it works. Between this and the MUFE multi purpose powder, I prefer that one instead of this. I've been eyeing your Guerlain pressed powders, one of these days I'll splurge at the duty free. :)

I love comments! Please leave me one. I promise I'll write back.
