Sponsored Post: ORBIS Sunscreen on Face Beauty and Sunscreen on Face Beauty Light

I'm not sure where I read this but sunscreem is supposed to be the best anti-aging skincare you can apply for your face and I believe in that wholeheartedly. In our sunny Singapore, I don't go anywhere without some sort of sunscreen. I have been using my Chanel UV Essentiel SPF 50 for the longest time because hey I am a big beauty snob, so what a pleasant surprise when it came to trying these two little gems.

 (Information taken from press kit)

Provides skincare functions that protects skin from external damages while retaining moisture ORBIS SUNSCREEN ON FACE products contains Skin Environment Control Powder that protects skin under various conditions. When skin is dry the powder provides moisture, when the skin starts to get shiny the powder absorbs sweat. Shiny T-zone will be a thing of the past with this powder working its magic. These sunscreens work more like beauty serums rather than just sunscreen! They contains 80% moisturizing ingredients such as Rosemary Extract and Raw Sugar Extract to help keep your skin moisturised all day.

Newly developed powder ingredient creates more radiant and brighter appearance! Special Ultra-white Lighting Powder does not discolor or dull upon contact with sebum. It stays white, enabling your skin to stay fresh and bright over time.

Smooth, light and moisturizing sunscreen with high UV protection of SPF 34, PA+++ for daily use SUNCREEN ON FACE products do not contain UV absorbers, an ingredient commonly found in sunscreen products which sometimes are the cause of allergic reactions in users. ORBIS limits the use of UV absorbers as it does not affect the effectiveness of sunscreen products. SUNSCREEN ON FACE products can provide sun-protection essential for daily use and being oil-free, it protects your skin from unnecessary oxidation that may cause skin damage.

Different textures suited for different skin types.
  • SUNSCREEN ON FACE BEAUTY: cream type and is suitable for dry skin
  • SUNCREEN ON FACE BEAUTY LIGHT: lotion type with a lighter texture and is suitable for oily skin
Key Ingredients
  1. Special Ultra-white Lighting Powder to improve finish.
  2. Skin Environment Control Powder to control skin condition by moisturizing the dry part of the skin and absorbing sweat when it starts to get shiny.
  3. Barrier Veil Protector, Water resistant UV ray (UV-A&B) scattering agent.
  4. Rosemary Extract, Raw Sugar Extract and other moisturizing ingredients derived from plants.
  5. Hyaluronic Acid Capsules, a moisturizing ingredient (found in cream based BEAUTY only).
  6. Base Fix Components to Improve adhesion of SUNSCREEN ON FACE on the skin (found in lotion based BEAUTY LIGHT only)
There are two versions available. I gravitate towards the Light version because I have normal to oily skin. The Light version has to be shaken before use and has a snozzle to squeeze product out.

The normal version features a squeeze tube.

Left to right: Light version versus normal version
As you can see, the light version is runnier and has a more liquid consistency whereas the normal version is a cream version. That being said the normal version features a light weight cream consistency which actually feel lightweight and sheer on the skin.

Both have a beige / grey (griege?) shade to it. On my NC35 skin tone, it is not visible. Both apply matte on my face and I'm sorely tempted to skip my primer because it works just as well as a base for my foundation.

I think that the ORBIS Sunscreen on Face Beauty and Beauty Light are great sunscreen at an affordable price. Both feel light weight on the skin and dries down to a matte finish. The normal version isn't heavy at all and does not feel tacky so I'm going out on a limb and say that if you have oily skin it is possible for you to try the normal version too. It is up to your preference.

These do not produce a white cast and photograph well. They work well with my foundations and can be worn alone under foundations or with primers. I only wish they had a higher SPF. I think these will suit well with ladies who work in an office environment but you will probably have to leave these at home if you are going on a beach holiday.

Wearing the Face Beauty under my MUFE HD Foundation with no primer

Beauty 35g SGD $15
Beauty Light 28 ml SGD $15

Project Swap: Paul & Joe Cheek Color Refills 02 Re-Belle, 04 Cinema and 07 Prima Donna swatches and reviews

Today I have with me Paul and Joe's Cheek Color Refills which Miaka from Miaka's Life and Loves has kindly loaned to me. I just love playing with new makeup, so it is so much fun to have a makeup addict as a neighbour. I get to meet Miaka around our community playground or void deck just to chat about makeup and swap "toys". I have to confess I have been using Miaka as an alibi for bringing more new makeup home.

Hubs (raising his eye brows) : "Did you just buy new makeup again?"
Me: "Nope, they are on loan from Miaka."
Hubs (looking suspicious): "These look very new."
Me: "Miaka is very generous, she lets me play with her new things." (crossing fingers behind my back)
Hubs: "Hm....."

So shh...... don't give away my secret okay.

Paul and Joe is known for very pretty and cute packaging. Very Japanese. I kinda like my makeup to come in sleek and classy packaging instead.

I am featuring the refills which come with a transparent plastic casing. You can buy the blush casing for SGD $12 at BeautyBay.com. if you are OCD about your blush coming in pretty cases. There are a total of 10 shades.

(Taken from BeautyBay.com website)

Paul & Joe Cheek Color are luxurious blush duos designed to contour and highlight facial features.

Specially designed to be stored in the new Paul & Joe Cheek Color Compact, these luxurious blushers are part of the new and totally customisable Cheek Color Collection for Spring 2013. These new shade duos compliment any style or attitude and make changing your cheek colour as swift as changing your mood or outfit.

Simply pop your favourite shade combination into the new retro-meets modern compact (sold separately) for effortless beauty on-the-go. Infused with moisturising ingredients such as Hibiscus Flower Extract and Orange Flower Water, Cheek Color I is also blended with Jojoba Oil and White Lily Extract to hydrate the skin without irritation.

Cheek Color I leaves the cheeks with a healthy flush of colour and each shade features two hues which can be blended together or worn alone to contour, highlight and illuminate the face.

Please note: Cheek Color Compact I is sold separately and is not included with Paul & Joe Cheek Color I.

Shades Available:
01 Secret D'Or – A luxurious champagne gold combined with a delicate yellow to create the ultimate golden sparkle.
02 Re Belle – A blissful blend of shining rose and warm apricot designed for breathtakingly neutral looks.
03 Gigi – This soft and sweet duo of pinks is a must for timeless glamour.
04 Cinema – A playful coral duo that evokes a retro vibe.
05 Gamine – An earthy, natural pink duo designed to create the impression of artless style.
06 Mon Ami – Deep and sensual shades of lavender and dusty rose are ideal for a charming look.
07 Prima Donna – This bright pink and caramel duo creates a classic, energetic look.
08 Candy – These two cheerful hues are ideal for making cheeks flush with a summer glow.
09 Peaches 'n' Cream – Soft gold and peach tones create a peachy-keen finish.
10 Ombrage – A rusty gold and bronze duo ideal for giving the cheeks a sun kissed glow.

The refills are selling for SGD $24.90 with free delivery to Singapore. I think that is a pretty good deal although I have to say I have not bought stuff from them before. So order at your own risk.

Here I have No. 02 Re Belle on my cheeks. I love this with strong lip colours. I was very silly I returned Re Belle to Miaka before I could take arm swatches. My mistake. You can view Miaka's swatches of it over here.

Left to right: Lighter shade, darker shade and mixed

No. 04 Cinema has hints of coral and orange. I like that there are two colours which you can mix around and customise. You can view Miaka's swatches of it over here. I have to agree with her that the colours on the pan do not look like the arm swatches. They are sheerer and have less pigment.

Left to right: Lighter shade, darker shade and mixed

No. 07 Prima Donna consists of a brown pink and a warm pink coral shade. You can view Miaka's swatches of it over here.

Left to right: Cinema and Prima Donna
Overall, I love the quality of these Paul and Joe blushes. They might look very strong in the pan and but they are very wearable. The powder is soft and blendable and lasts about 4 hours on my cheeks. They might not be very pigmented but application is very easy with these. No clown cheeks. I love the price point. At SGD $25, these are quality blushes that won't burn a hole in your wallet. I can see why Miaka loves these.

Which blush do I love best? It has to be Prima Donna. I love the warm rosy pink it gives me when I swirl by brush around both shades.

Retail Price:
$8.90 for a box (2 servings), Limited Edition Flavours
$6.90 for a box (2 servings), Regular Flavours

Mango: Sweet burst of ripe mango flavour
Mixed Tropical Fruits: Well balance sour and sweet guava, passionfruit and pineapple flavours
Acai, banana and red grape: Contains superfruit Acai know for its weight loss and anti-aging properties
I have to be honest I did not like some of the flavours here. I made the mistake of picking up the Acai, Banana and Red Grape flavour first. I could not finish the the whole drink because it was partly sourish tasting and just didn't suit my taste. It took me a few days to muster the will to pick up another flavour to drink.

This time I picked up Mango which I liked a lot. Whew!

This is what a sachet looks like inside.

As per instructions, I pour out the contents into a cup. Can't go wrong with mangoes, it smells good.

Next I mix in about 100 ml of fresh milk. None of that low fat milk for me though, I like mine full cream. When mixed, the mixture thickens to a shake.

Then drink! I feel a sense of fullness after downing a cup. I lasted about between 2.5 to 3 hours before my tummy rumbles for food. I don't drink this everyday but I do replace my weekend breakfasts with this, especially after a run in the morning when I am feeling virtuous. Heh heh. I don't think I have the willpower to replace lunch or dinner with this though. My tummy craves solid food.

I don't think I'll be able to lose weight if I'm only replacing some meals but hopefully this helps me to maintain my weight.

That being said, I think that if you want to achieve a healthy and sustainable weight loss, it is all about forming good eating habits and adding in exercise into the mix. Don't look for quick fix solutions. If you tend to reach out for sugary and fatty treats when stressed like me, reach out for a Petit Shake instead. Don't deny yourself what you love to eat either, just everything in moderation. Think about calories in and out. Don't eat more than you can expend.

Thankfully these boxes come in a sachet of 2 inside. If you happen to pick a flavour you don't like, you only need to go through 2 of them. I found out that I really liked the Mango and Mixed Tropical Fruits flavour out of the 4 flavours I was given. I will stock up on those.

These are the petit shakes I bought from the ORBIS counter at Robinsons Orchard. I like them Petit Shakes enough to hunt for new ones to try.  I found some interesting flavours which I wanted to test out. So far I finished my Double Berry and White Chocolate which tastes and smells great to me. I'm crossing my fingers with the Caramel Pumpkin Pudding, I hope it tastes good. The Double Berry and White Chocolate and Caramel Pumpkin Pudding cost SGD $8.90 because I believe they are also LE flavours.

Edited to add: I have tried the Caramel Pumpkin Pudding and it tastes very good. That caramel flavour and smell is absolutely heavenly. Must get more!

Addiction Eye Shadow Flashback

I am ending of my series of Addiction picks with Flashback a gorgeous taupe.

Check out the multi-colored sparkles in the out of focus shot, so pretty.

Flashback is a mushroomy kind of taupe with pretty sparkles. Here is eye look using mainly Flashback. I used Burberry Porcelain as an all over lid colour and then applied Flashback on my lids. I used a fluffy brush to blend it upwards over my crease and then used Urban Decay's 24/7 eye pencil in Gunmetal to line my eyes.

Finally all my Addiction eye shadows together.

Top to bottom: Fudge, Arabian Ruby and Flashback
I adore all the shades I have picked out and I'm panting for more. It is a difficult brand to get my hands on so I will have to rely on the kindness of friends going to Japan to help feed my Addiction. (Lol) I find the prices of Addiction eye shadows very reasonable so long as you get it from Japan directly.

Make Up For Ever HD Foundation 120 Soft Sand

I recently stocked up on one of my favourite foundations of all time, the Make Up For Ever HD foundation. You can read my review of it over here

HD foundation is a lightweight foundation suitable for oily to normal skin types. Coverage ranges from medium to full depending on how much you apply. I love using this for performances or when I know I will be photographed because it doesn't project a white cast when the camera flashes.

I have been using 123 Desert but was recommended by Didy the Makeup Artist from Make Up For Ever to try 120 Soft Sand to help me cover my acne scars around my cheeks better. He said that I could use a light dusting of bronzer around my face to warm up my complexion if I was worried that it was too light for me.

Here's Didi, isn't he a cutie?
When I pumped it out, I was a little worried because it looked light. As compared to the current foundations I am using, it is the lightest foundation.

Left to right: MUFE HD 120, Chanel Perfection Lumiere 40 Beige and Burberry Velvet Foundation 204
You know what, it doesn't look unnaturally light on me. When paired with my favourite Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi Use Powder Foundation or HD Pressed Powder It covers my acne scars a lot better too. I love it.

I paired the HD Foundation here with the HD Pressed Powder.

This is one of those foundations I come back over and over again because I just love how it looks and feels on my skin. An oldie but still a goodie.
