Rimmel Glam Eyes HD 004 Green Park Swatches and Review

Dear Ruby from Miaka's Life and Loves gifted this pretty palette when she was in Japan. Don't you just love the greens in the palette?

(Information taken from Rimmel website)

Multi-reflective pigments eyeshadows for colour that looks perfect under any light. Unique 4 shade pallet for vibrant & intense colour. Velvety, creamy formula blends effortlessly. Use dry for a subtle or luminous look, use wet for even greater colour impact! Wears up to 10 hours!

The Union Jack design is very cute but honestly not very practical. I found it very difficult to pick up the number 1, 3 and 4 shades with my brush. In the end I resorted to using the sponge applicator given.

The texture of the shadows are soft. They crumble slightly when I run my sponge applicator over them. They are also very shimmery. I don't really like them dry because I find the pigmentation sheer but when applied wet, the pigmentation becomes stronger.

Here is an eye look I did with the palette with the addition of my Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil in Stash and Eldorado.

Well they are pretty decent for a drugstore brand but I think I standard 4 pan design would have been better. I like the colours in the palette and prefer to wear them wet. I think if there varied the textures of the shadows, it would be better. Perhaps a matte shade? I love shimmers in my shadows but overall I find this palette slightly too shimmery for me. I wouldn't be running out to get these.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Blush No. 2 Washed Rose swatches and review

The next item up from Project Swap is a Bobbi Brown Shimmer Blush called Washed Rose. I have only owned Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks before so this is a wonderful opportunity to try their powder blushes.

(Information from Bobbi Brown website)

Silky formula glides on smoothly and evenly. Shades can be used individually or assembled into our palettes (sold separately). Apply on the apples of cheeks using the Blush Brush, blending up into the hairline, then downwards to soften. Finish with a pop of brighter blush, applied just on the apples of cheeks.

There are a total of 5 shades available.

Coral - Soft Coral
Flame - Deep red shimmer
Pink Coral - Warm pink
Pink Sugar - Light pink with gold
Washed Rose - Warm rose shimmer

Washed Rose is exactly what is described with perhaps a hint of mauve. The shimmer is very obvious but strangely doesn't show up on my cheeks. It doesn't highlight my pores. This blush is very pigmented and I can only use my MAC 187 Duo Fiber Brush to apply this. Any other blush brush would give me clown cheeks.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer blush are very long lasting. It lasted the whole day and three hours of dance classes. So that's pretty amazing in my standards.

You know what, I'm a snob so I wish the packaging was a little nicer. Although I must say the small black plastic square makes it easy to tote around.

It costs USD $25.

I don't think I'll purchase any Bobbi Brown blushes just because I'm such a big snob but for anyone out there who wants a great quality blush that doesn't cost the Earth and the Moon, this would be a great choice.

Paul & Joe Lipstick N No. 30 Belle Epoque swatches and review

This was a lovely gift given to me by Ruby of Miaka's Live and Loves. She knew I love coral lipsticks and gave this to me to try. This is my very first Paul & Joe lipstick.

First up, the packaging is super cute and pretty.

It looks very pretty in the tube and when applied it becomes at sheer and glossy coral shade. To be honest, I like my lipsticks to be on the opaque side but I do sometimes use sheer ones for my non makeup days. (Even on my non makeup days I need a glossy lip to ensure I don't look like a zombie!)

I love how it feels on my lips. It is emollient and hydrating. It keeps my lips supple throughout the day. I find it quite sheer though so I use a lip liner with more colour underneath and make it stand out more.

If you love sheer lipsticks, please check these out.

Tracy from Tracy's Beauty Blogosphere has some amazing swatches and she swears by them.

Sponsored Post: Giorgio Armani Flash Lacquer Crystal Shine Gloss No. 202 Brown swatches and review

(Taken from the press kit)

A new global approach through the Shape & Shine Memory Technology – patent pending

This new technology is based on the synergy of two polymers and a crystal clear base:

The shape memory polymer forms an extremely supple, flexible and crystalline network that always keeps the surface of lips smooth. Moisturizing oils, pigments and pearls are now micro-connected in an
adapting smooth surface.
The crystal shine polymer with transparent oils provides a translucency formula base to heighten the pigment clarity. Light not only reflects at the surface of the lips, but also infuses the texture from within to deliver
higher color luminosity.
Therefore, the same amount of pigment and pearls can provide higher color intensity and luminosity without feeling heavy or sticky. The new science of color brightness.

The supreme sensorial experience: Flash lacquer contains an exclusive combination of velvety paste and emollient oils that ensure extreme softness at application and a long lasting supreme comfort with an enveloping sensation.

A flawless result through a unique applicator: the Flash lacquer’s velvet applicator is so precise that just a single gesture achieves a perfect result. Impeccably shaped and angled, it hugs curves, beautifully following volumes to define contours instantly and effortlessly.

A collection of 27 brilliant colors in three effects and statements of chic.
Linda Cantello - International Make-up Artist for Giorgio Armani Beauty- interprets Giorgio Armani’s art of color crafting in 3 stories of 27 shades: a shade for three different states of mind, a shade for every mood and every atmosphere.

Shades created with lacquered pigments for enhanced color purity. From the perfect red carpet shade #400 to the most glowing beiges. Pure sophistication. This season’s must have, the Flash lacquer #523, is the new
Armani fuchsia.

Pretty pastels and rosewoods created with a high proportion of fine pearls. These milky micronized glass or mica pearl have no ashy undertone and a transparent reflection. Shades from cherry blossom, to spring corals. Light wood hues. A subtle touch of freshness.

Strong rich mineral colors blended with exclusive interferential pearls that reflect light in different colors and directions. Shimmering ruby and precious gem colors bring a daring chic. The signature midnight Armani shimmer, black pearl #701 is a touch of glamour. Creating optimal reflection for a high shine lipgloss.

I have for you today Giorgio Armani's Flash Lacquer in No. 202 brown which is part of the Midnight Shimmer range.

If you know me, you would know that I favour lipsticks over lip glosses. I own very few lip glosses and am not inclined to buy any. I prefer my lip products pigmented. I am pleasantly surprised by the Flash Lacquer. It is quite pigmented but still allows my natural lip colour to peek through. I would have to say I like this a lot. I have been using this the day I received this. When I want an understated lip and focus on my eyes, I find myself reaching for this.

I also use this over my too light pink lipsticks (after my beach vacation, some of my pink lipsticks just don't fit my skin tone) to make them wearable on me.

The wand is a flexible slanted doe foot which makes application very easy.

Brown may not sound very exciting but it looks like a my lips but slightly darker and better shade. The thing with lip glosses is that they don't last on lips. It is the same with this. After a meal, it disappears. However, it is not drying at all, it feels very comfortable on my lips. It does feel tacky though. I don't enjoy my hair sticking to my lips when the wind blows but it is a minor inconvenience.

There are a total of 27 shades.

I am very keen on the pink Flash Lacquer featured on the model and the following shades.Coral No.301 and Black Pearl No. 701.

Sponsored Post: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation No. 5 swatches and review

Today I am going to introduce you to Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk foundation. I have been a big fan of Giorgio Armani foundations for quite a few years now. I own quite a few of them but have not truly tested the Luminous Foundation before. I was so happy to have received this and a Giorgio Armani Flash Lacquer (to be reviewed later) to try.

The Luminous Silk foundation features a revamped package. It definitely looks better than the old bottle. There is no change in the amount of product.

(Taken from the press kit)

Luminous Silk Foundation features exclusive Micro-fil TM Light Technology with micronized pigments, pearls and spherical fillers to assure that colors remain pure and textures weightless for infinite blending and layering. Airy oils allow easy application while a mineral gel provides evenness, hold and luminosity. The Luminous Silk formula is enriched in Glycerin, giving 8-hours hydration and extreme comfort to the skin.

Textile-like fluids inspired by the luxurious fabrics of the runway. Each is as soft as the finest silk, as radiant as organza. The weightless, cutting-edge formulas mirror the impeccable fit of a made-to-measure garment, fusing with the contours of every face for smooth, all-day coverage.

Radiant. Weightless. Legendary.
Light-perfecting, Luminous Silk Foundation’s weightless, gliding texture was inspired by “charmeuse” silk, the “Fabric of Emperors” known for its unique luster and thinness. Draping the face like a caress to correct and unify the complexion, bringing out the skin’s natural glow. The fine, translucent Micro-fil TM texture allows easy layering, offering just the right amount of coverage and color for a flawless complexion.

A bestseller since its creation in 2000, Luminous Silk Foundation is a multi-award winner, and was named the number one foundation in InStyle magazine’s 2012 “Best Beauty Buys”.

Honestly when I received shade No. 5 I was a little dismayed. It is way lighter than what I normally wear. I'm between a 6 and 6.5. But who am I to complain? I was given this so I tried to make do with it.

I used only a slightly more than a pea-sized amount for my whole face. I used my Sigma Round Top Kabuki F82 to buff the foundation into my skin. The coverage is sheer to medium. It does not mask my acne scars or sun spots but gives me a my skin but better look. It feels lightweight on my skin and holds up well under the humidity. I took a 15 minute walk to the bus stop at 1 p.m. There was no shade whatsoever. I was sweating by the time I reached the bus stop. At my destination, I checked myself in the bathroom mirror and I was glad that the foundation held up well.

These are the few Giorgio Armani foundations I own. My Face Fabric foundation is not featured in the post though. Incidentally I own two different shades of Lasting Silk foundation. It is a long story, if you want to hear it, leave me a comment!

My first love is Lasting Silk foundation which gives me an all matte finish and holds up relatively well when I had seriously oily skin.

I have since managed to control my oil slick of a face and currently have normal to slightly oily skin. Luminous Silk holds up well on my more manageable and less oily skin. I find that I only need to blot my face after 4 hours. Even then, my face was softly glowing, not an oil slick.

I seriously can't tell the difference in terms of finish when comparing the Luminous Silk and Designer lift though. They feel the same to me.

From the right to the left. Luminous Silk No. 5, Lasting Silk No. 5.5, Maestro No. 5.5,  Designer Lift 6 and Lasting Silk No. 7

I am so happy to see that there are a total of 9 Luminous Silk Foundation Shades. I have always been complaining that some makeup companies only focus on certain skin tones when in fact Singapore being such a multi-racial society with ladies of a wide range of skin tones. So ladies I am sure you will find a shade that will be perfect for you.

If you have normal to slightly oily skin, I think you will love this foundation. Coverage is lightweight not mask-like so you will look like you have natural softly glowing skin.
