Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs 500 Turandot swatches and reviews

I picked this up at the airport on my trip to Bali in December. I was very excited about shopping at DFS Changi which I feel has the best shopping experience. Beauty and skincare products are much cheaper than anywhere else in Singapore. I think Terminal 3 is the most exciting because it has many beauty brands. Terminal 2 which I shopped from was more subdued in comparison.

I only planned to get the YSL palette in Arctic Night but unfortunately they did not have the Christmas collection. I did find Turandot which I had my eye on but was not very sure I wanted or not. I fell in love with the swatches and decided to buy this.

This was selling at SGD $72 as compared to the $83 if you buy them at the regular counters.

The eye shadow palette is housed in the hefty finger print magnet metal casing. I love the weight of this. It feels so luxurious. I don't care that it attracts fingerprints, it is shiny and that is all that matters.

I apologise for the upside down picture. I was turning my palette this way and that for a good shot, this is the only one that represents the colours most accurately.

I really love the warm slightly orange toned gold in this palette. The formula and pigmentation is just gorgeous. It suits my warm colouring.

Gold shade all over lids
Rosy plum mauve shade on outer lids
Taupe shade as a contour
Dark plum shade on the outer corner of my eyes and lined with a black eye pencil
Tada!

I have both Turandot and Harmonie Du Soir which I thought were quite similar. Don't ask me why I bought both. I can't and will not answer!

Top to bottom: Turandot and Harmonie Du Soir

Harmonie Du Soi is the cooler version whereas Turandot is the warmer version. I find Turandot more wearable for day looks whereas Harmonie Du Soir is great for a dramatic night time look. I definitely love the gold in Turandot more and the taupes look quite similar.

Guerlain makes really great eye shadow palettes. They are long lasting and pack a lot of pigment. They blend very well without becoming a muddy mess. I highly recommend you check these out.

Who is dying to see the new 2013 Spring Collection?

I am loving Best Things in Beauty's swatches of #502 Coup de Foudre. I have a thing for greens.

  2. I saw this in DFS too but I skipped. The color is so nice but I need to save up more for the pretty spring blushes :p

    1. Maybe Dior's palette or the Nars Duo Blush. Haven't decided yet ;)

  4. I generally love Guerlain eye palettes and have quite a few in my stash by now but somehow I can't pluck up courage to get Turandot though I like the taupe and gold shades. It looks too overwhelmingly warm for my comfort. But... I'm definitely looking forward to Coup de Foudre! ;) By the looks of Xiao (Messy Wands), that palette looks promising. Hope it'll look better IRL than what I've seen online.

    1. We have the same taste! I have been eyeing Coup de Foudre too but I'm not sure about that bright coral colour. Which palettes do you have Nonno?

    2. Yeap! I also have a thing for green eyeshadows. ;) I'm actually quite excited abt that coral shade. I'm curious to see how it would turn out layered on top of or under the other 3 shades.
I have Rue de Rivoli, Bois de Rose, Le Verts, Le Perles and Capri. Not that many afterall now that I've listed them out. :p
Btw, I recall you used to see a dermatologist, right? Would you recommend him/her to me?

    3. Nonno, I would definitely recommend Dr Phey any time. My face improved tremendously from the first time I saw her. I don't see her anymore because I don't think I need to do anymore. The office is in Orchard Building but I cannot remember the name of the clinic, I'll look for it and get it to you asap.

    4. Thanks, Jacq. When you find the name of the clinic, can you email to me at tanwy22@yahoo(dot)com? :)

    5. HI Jacq, guess what? I just keyed Dr Phey and Orchard Building in Google and there it is an old post of yours in CozyCot mentioning Dr Phey and the name of her clinic! The power of Google! lol ;)

    6. That us so cool! I hope she is still there, she is very patient and always took the time to talk to me and get to know me. I recc a colleague of mine a few years back and she was also very happy with Dr Phey. Good luck babe.

  5. These are both wonderful palettes. All other blog reviews I've read made me rank Harmonie Du Soir above Turandot, but you've got me to rethink matters. Lucky girl!

    1. Hehe I am a bad influence, so did you get a palette for yourself? I'm trying my best to be a good girl this month, fingers crossed.
