Groove Movie Night Face

I just wanted to share with you my excitement and nervousness about my coming performance for my dance school. My performance is tomorrow and I have butterflies in my stomach right now. I hope I'll be able to get a good nights rest and tomorrow, not make a fool of myself.

I always fret about my makeup. I'm quite fastidious. I can't seem to get the right groove to apply makeup when there isn't a proper makeup area and lighting. I also wanted to try out some things I am planning to use and see how I would go about applying them in case I make a mess of myself on the actual day itself.

I definitely want to use the Make Up For Ever Holodiam powders. I decided to use the Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in matte black as a base. I do find it difficult to blend because they dry fast so I gave up. Instead I used Laura Mercier's Metallic Creme Eye shadow in Gold to blend. I applied Holodiam Power in No. 304 on top of the Aqua Cream. Then finished off by lining my eyes heavily with a black liner. 

This was also the perfect opportunity to play with the glittery gold lashes by Make Up For Ever.

These lashes are very comfortable but I find that it looks odd on me. I can't get used to having it stand out so.

No performance can do without my favourite Aqua Rouge. I used No. 8, a hot spicy red.

This is my costume. I hate hunting for costumes, I am very indecisive. After quite a few trial and errors, I finally settled on this sequin top. Sequin tops are meant for skinny gals. I tell you, it emphasizes every bulge.

Burberry Lip Velvet Swatches

Here are guerilla swatches of the new Burberry Lip Velvets.

From left to right: Peony Rose, Antique Pink, Redwood, Honey Suckle and Pink Amber.

Left to right: Rose Pink, Pink Azalea, Fuchsia Pink, Military Red, Bright Poppy and Hawthorn Berry.

Pink Fuchsia by the way looks more like a pink red than fuchsia in my opinion.

I chose Pink Azalea, Pink Fuchsia and Hawthorn Berry to try. In the midst of my excitement I missed out Military Red, boo! I'll go back to test it out really soon. You can see me grinning like a Cheshire cat in the reflection.

Burberry Holiday 2012 collection and Eye Palette Swatches

I know I am silly but I have been feeling very deprived lately. Between my work, my dance rehearsals, dance classes and pole classes and family outings, I have not had the time to go to town to check out all the new spangly things I have been hearing about. I have been wanting to go visit the new Tangs Beauty Hall in Orchard Road. Oh my! The place is a beauty haven. So many new exciting brands.

When Mindy from Burberry Beauty told me that the new quads were in, I made sure I made time to go. At the time of my visit, I wasn't feeling 100% well but you know what all that beauty shopping certainly cured me of my discomfort.

I like the new Burberry space. Though the the biggest, it exudes class. I like the wood dressing tables too. It feels welcoming and certainly is a delight to sit in it. That's my camera by the way!

I like how Xiao from Messy Wands puts it, guerrilla swatching. Here is my attempt.

Ignore the label, this is the Lip Gloss in Vintage Gold. I was seriously tempted to get this even though I'm not a lip gloss person. I tried it on my lips and the store lighting just made it shimmer.

Finally the piece de resistance, a very cute Beauty Charm with the Cameo Pink gloss inside.

I am so tempted by this, I just wish the colour was not so non-existent. SGD $110. I might just get this simply because I am such a Burberry fan. :)

These are creamy and glide on my lids. They make great cream shadows when smudged and make great bases for intensify powder eye shadows. But unfortunately they still smudge on me. You can read my original  review of the OL matte black eye pencil here.

Here is the Aqua Cream in No. 4 a pearly white shade. Great for the inner corner of the eyes. SGD $39. Aqua Creams are waterproof and don't smudge. Check out my original review of them here. I do find the metallic/pearly versions more challenging to blend as compared to the matte ones. The trick is to do one eye at a time and blend quick.

Clinique Christmas Workshop

I was very excited to have been invited by the wonderful ladies at Clinique to join their workshop and find out more about their products.

Did you know the word Clinique is actually a french name for clinic?

I got the opportunity to play with some of Clinique's products.

I was most interested in the Repairwear Laser Focus and Dark Spot Corrector. They were gel formulas which were easily absorbed.  After going home I took the opportunity to order them online at Nordstrom to get their Clique GWP. I can't wait for them to arrive.

The famous Clinique Chubby Sticks. Can't you believe I have yet to try one of these? I must remedy that some day. I particularly like Super Strawberry because it looked the most pigmented.

I brought home this lovely bag with the Repairwear Laser Focus eye cream inside. I can't wait to try this out. I will let you know in due course how well it works.
