Smith's Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm review

One of my favourite lip balms is Smith's Rosebud Salve. It costs about SGD$10 and you can find it at the local Sephora stores. Check my review of the original Rosebud Salve here. I decided to buy the Strawberry Lip Balm version just to see if it was very different.

Well it has a strawberry flavour that goes off after a while. I find that it isn't as nourishing as the original. If I have peeling lips, after applying the original version I find that my lips become soft and supple after a day's use. Not with this though. It isn't as effective as the original. Quite disappointing actually. The balm itself feels a lot harder that the original version.

  1. I've never heard of this brand. Sometimes the cheapest is the best. I've tried Korres, Fresh, Burt's Bee, EOS, Vasaline, Nivea. I love EOS the best for under the makeup.

    1. Hey Joanne, thanks for popping by. I have heard so much about EOS but have never tried them because they are not available here. Sometimes cheapest works fantastic. I still love my Vaseline.

  2. Thanks for the great review. I have the original and I love it. Good to know the strawberry version doesn't compare.

  4. Hi there :) I have never tried the original in the tin, but did try this Strawberry one. I thought the scent was okay & faded quickly, but did not find it as nourishing as other balms I have tried. I threw it away quickly because I couldn't stand sticking my fingers in it & found it very hard too. Soon afterwards I saw a cute trio from this brand that contained the Strawberry, Rosebud & the Mocha Rose all in a squeeze tube formula. For the price I thought I'd give them another try even though I was not fond of the strawberry tin. Thankfully I love all three of them! The scent doesn't linger, they very nourishing & last a long time too. Of course probably not as long lasting as the tin, but I find a little goes a long away & it's very convenient in the tube. Perhaps you might like to give those a try in the future ;) The only place I can find them though is on beautyhabit.com :/
PS I love your blog! This is my first time commenting, but I frequently read your postings because I see you are a fellow Burberry Beauty lover! lol...Can't wait to see if you plan on reviewing any of the upcoming new eyeshadow quads or the new velvet lip covers :D

    1. Naomi, thanks so much for your comment, it means a lot hearing from you. I must hunt the squeeze tube ones then, I think the ones that comes in a tube are much more hygienic too.
I have Dark Sable and Mulberry to be reviewed and I'll be going to a Burberry Beauty workshop this Saturday, so excited about it. I have been bugging my SA at Burberry about the velvet lip colours, I am so getting them. Guess what she has not heard of the quads so I guess everyone is uber curious about them. Take care Naomi, don't be a stranger :) Drop by so we can chit chat ;)
