Chanel Haul and makeover face of the day

My sole purpose of visiting my favourite MA Quiling at Chanel Ion was to splurge on a eye cream. I have finished Caudalie's Premier Cru Eye Cream quite some time back and have been surviving on Chanel eye cream samples. I liked both of my Chanel eye cream samples (Total Life and Sublimage) so I wanted Quiling's opinion. I also wanted to pick up the new Illusion d'Ombre in Abstraction.

Quiling as always decided to do a makeover to show me how to use Abstraction with other Chanel products.

Again, she used Perfection Lumiere which I have resisted buying. I was reminded about how awesome it is. She applied it over my Burberry Sheer Glow foundation and I was totally amazed at how it did not cake or look thick. Instead I had great coverage and a velvety finish. I want it!

Quiling applied a layer of Abstraction beyond my crease and then mixed Vision (gold) with Abstraction to bling out my eyes (I wished you could see the pretty sparkles). She used the water proof eye pencil and drew a heavy line. She added Vision under the black eye liner under my eyes to highlight. The pictures below were taken when I got home. I threw all my shopping bags down and grabbed the camera and started taking pictures before I lost sunlight. You should have seen how perplexed my DS reacted. He must be thinking, "What is my mommy doing?"

On my cheeks she applied Rose Initiale Joues Contraste and on my lips she applied Parfiat Rouge Coco Shine.

I am totally happy with my make over. I can always trust Quiling to make me look great.

Anyway I could not resist pulling out my camera to take a few shots. My haul in on the counter.

I bought:

Sublimage Eye Cream
Illusion d'Ombre in Abstraction
Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-lasting eye liner

Here are more gratuitous shots of my haul, we all love haul pictures don't we?

As you can see, there is a Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill in No. 27 peeking out from behind my Stylo Yeux pencil. Heh heh, sneaky huh?

Swatches and reviews soon.

  1. The close up pics of your eyes look rather heavy, i was surprised that you overall look seems natural. Maybe I should experiment with heavy liners.

i love their eye cream samples. Its housed in decent squeeze tube. Probably I need to break my bank to get the full size one or I should cut down on hauls.

review the eye cream & keep us posted! Yes your etk is catching the attention!

    1. Hey Sizebelle, thanks for leaving me a comment. I love their samples too! I'll keep you posted on the eye cream. Probably take me some time before I decide whether it is worth paying so much for it. I normally wouldn't wear such a heavy eye liner for days too. Its more for evening for me.

    2. Yes, pls. I'm in need of a miracle eye cream.

The liner looks ok on you really. :D

    3. Sizabelle, I think we could all do with a miracle cream eh ;) I'm actually not really used to lining under my eyes, I feel I look a little fierce. But I'm definitely going to try what my MA did.

  2. Love the eyemakeup on you, especially the thick line she drew. Intense and smouldering yet wearable during the day too without being over the top :)

  3. You look flawless! Pity Perfection Lumiere doesn't work on me. You should get the foundie. ;)

Your BA did a great job, esp with your eyes. Love how she lined your top and bottom lashlines giving your eyes a very defined and refined look without being harsh. Beautiful look she's done for you!

Btw, please please review the eye cream! I'm looking for a new eye cream myself.

    1. Nonno, I am so getting the foundation. I have used my sample three days straight and am loving the coverage and how it controls oil. The eye cream review will probably take quite some time, it was a total splurge.

  4. Hmm, I am really drawn to your lips!!! The parfait rouge coco shine looks sexy on you! But what did you think about it? I'm looking for a pinky-nude lipstick that doesn't make me look like a zombie, and would work on my already heavy pigmented lips. ARe you lips naturally also quite pigmented on its own? Thanks for this post! Lisa

    1. Hey Lisa, thanks! I honestly don't like it on my lips, too nudey for me. Parfait also looks a little too metallic on my lips. I like brighter lip colours. BTW my lips are quite pigmented too. I prefer Burberry Lip Mists if I truly want a nude look.

    1. Gwen, do you suffer from oily lids? Unfortunately it still smudges on me although not as badly as other liners.

    2. I do :( I usually wear Chanel stylo yeuxs (or GA waterproofs but they're LE grr!!) as these seemed to perform the best on my horribly oily lids. I guess I pretty much assumed Noir Intense would be fine...
What are your thoughts on how it performs compared to other Chanel stylo yeuxs?

      Delete
    3. Hey Gwen, actually this would be my very first Chanel eye liner so I can't compare it with the others. Is the GA version good? How oes it compare with the Chanel stylo yeuxs? I'm still searching for my HG pencil liner. :(

    4. The GA version is so soft! Its a joy to use because it just glides on and it really does stay put (9 hours for me). The only negative is that it is a little too soft so you waste quite abit from having to sharpen the pencil often :( I don't know how it will hold up in hot Singaporean weather!
Chanel stylo yeuxs go on with minimal tugging and they also have fabulous staying power. I currently rotate between Expresso, Cassis and Celadon, all of which are equally great! They're certainly no where near as soft as the GA liners but that makes them longer lasting.
Oh I have to admit, the > 8 hour eyeliner wear is only when I cleanse my face + apply eye base (NARS smudgeproof) + powder (Burberry trench eyeshadow) prior to eyeliner!! So much effort but its the only option for me!! LOL

  14. Hello! The eyelook is really nice on you :) I bought the Ombre in Vision - it's amazing on top of anything! And more recently - ok, yesterday, i picked up the deep blue one, Apparition. Now I'm thinking if I should have gotten the light blue ... or maybe both :P

    ReplyDelete
  15. Kas I am planning to pick up Apparition today, is the light blue very nice? I don't do light blues but I am so tempted. I was also very tempted by Vision but was wondering how often I would use it. I have Fantasme and I don't use it as much as I should. I have a weakness for Illusions an ETKs!

  16. Are the blue illusions limited editions? I saw them on your instagram sidebar argh OMG they looks so brilliant feel like buying both even though i don't use blue that often. so gorgeous......

    1. Hey Anon, I believe they are, visit the Chanel counters quickly in case they disappear. The MA says they are flying off the shelves.

  17. How does chanel abstraction compare to GA ETK sweet fire and apparition compare to blast of blue? Can you do side by side swatches of all your illusions and etks pleaseeeeeee. I currently own 5 etks and i'm wondering if i should invest in some illusions! are they super sparkly? etks look too frosty when swatched but apply really beautifully, do illusions apply (too) frosty? thank you!

    1. Gladly my dear, I'll try and post it soon. The illusion doms are more sparkly and apply sheerer than ETKs. I know of some who prefer ETKs over the illusion doms. Apparition is more of a coral pink to me whereas Sweet Fire is more of a cool pink. I'll let you see for yourself.
