Le Métier de Beauté 'True Color' Eye Shadow in Jojo and Corinthian swatches and review

I was contemplating which items from my epic haul I should feature and write about first. Dear Hannah (Hi sweetie!) was asking me about Jojo a Le Metier de Beaute True Colour Eye Shadow so I thought why not feature that first.

These are my very first Le Metier de Beaute single eye shadows. I took quite a long time to buy these because I have way too many neutral eye shadows already. I honestly do not need more but I have heard such amazing things about Jojo and Corinthian (I blame you J!) and had such wonderful experience with the ones from my Penelope Kaleidoscope

If I wanted to try new shadows, I would buy neutrals because those are the easiest to wear although sometimes the colours aren't as exciting as a bright blue or green.

(Information taken from Nordstrom website)

This ultrafine powder possesses superior blendability and outstanding color payoff. Weightless, true-to-color pigments. Adjustable coverage, transparency and intensity. Comes in a range of finishes including matte, shimmer and satin.

First off I have to say I am not a fan of the somewhat rubberized casing, they remind me of NARS packaging and I have heard how they get sticky and gross after a while. That's the reason why I do not buy NARS blush or shadows anymore. I hope these don't get gross because I love what's inside!

Jojo works as a beautiful wash of shimmery warm champagne gold shade on my lids.

Corinthian is an absolutely stunning shimmery silver/mushroom/taupe/brown shade for the lids. If I tilt it sideways under the sun, I see green and gold shimmers.

Both have amazingly soft and have a finely milled texture. They are also long lasting and I don't really need a primer to show off their true colours or hold them in place. I do not experience any fall out with these.

I couldn't resist using them a few days after I received them. I abided by the blogger's code of not using an item before taking pictures of its pristine state. You do not know how hard it is for me to wait, I'm an instant gratification kind of girl.

Now for some comparison swatches for my dear reader Hannah. She wanted to know how different was Jojo from Burberry's Rosewood. I thought I would also add Pale Barley in the swatch because it is quite close to Rosewood in my eyes.

Left to right: Jojo, Rosewood and Pale Barley
Jojo looks warmer and has more hints of gold, Rosewood leans towards taupe.

How does the quality of Le Metier de Beaute's eye shadows compare with Burberry eye shawdows? Well, I think both are amazing in quality and texture. Burberry eye shadows seems just a little softer because as I was making finger swatches I notice that my Bb shadows make slight more pigmented and nicer swatches. Bb has less bling whereas LMdB shadows (at least the two I have) are more shimmery.

While I was at it, I also did comparison swatches for Corinthian with Burberry's Midnight Brown and Chanel's Sable Emouvant for fun. They are totally different.

Do you need Jojo and Corinthian? Well if you are big fan of neutrals and love fine quality makeup, these are worth hunting down and having in your collection. They are notoriously OOS most of the time. While writing this post, I checked both Zuneta and Nordstrom, they do not carry either Jojo or Corinthian. At USD $30 a pop, these are expensive to collect but to me worth the price.

There are about 32 shades ranging from matte, satin and shimmer. I hear that Spicy and Chameleon are also stunning.

Karla Sugar has all the swatches, bless that amazing woman. You can see them here:

    1. I wasn't going to buy these too but ah I have very little discipline and self control. Isn't the blush scope TDF, I am loving it, I don't regret getting it.

  3. Your collection of neutral eyeshadows featured in this post is stunning! :) I have BB's Midnight Brown and the Chanel Summer 2012 eyeshadow duo :) I bought hell lot of LMdB makeup when it was first launched at Zuneta. Personally, I find them overhyped. My apologies to all the LMdB fans out there. It's my own opinion :P

    1. Hey Shelnmum, don't worry, I understand what you mean, it is quite subjective what quality is especially for makeup. What someone thinks is good may not be what someone else may like. So I'm curious, how many do you own and which do you think has the best eye shadows out there? :)

  4. I think it's a matter of time before I cave in to one of their amazing eyeshadows! I am waiting for Coral Nymph to arrive, and I just won a mini Traviata in a giveaway, and I can't wait to play with them!

    1. You bought Coral Nymph! I hope you love it as much as I do :)
Same for me with RBR, if you don't stop featuring RBR, I might just cave.

    1. Hey Replica, thank you :) If these were the only two LMdB eye shadows you were getting, Jojo and Corinthian would be it, if you love neutral.

  6. Thanks, babe, for obliging me and providing such wonderful comparison swatches!

Jojo and Corinthian look different enough from (actually I find they look better than...) Burberry Rosewood and Midnight Brown, which I have, to justify me getting them. Only problem is, I overlooked to check their availability on Zuneta! LOL

    1. Nonno, oh dear! I hate it when I have decided to finally buy something and find that it is not available. It is so frustrating. You will probably have to wait a while before you can get your hands on these.
