Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet #31 La Furtive swatches and review

This belongs to a what was I thinking category. To be honest, I don't know what made me buy this. I am not a nude lip person. I guess I got caught up in the moment during my makeover and at that time it looked so good on me.

La Furtive is a peachy nude shade.  I prefer using this over a darker lip liner like MAC Spice or Burberry Sepia to give my lips a little more life.

You can read a more detailed description about the texture and formula in my other posts. La Facinante (my favourite), L'Exuberante and L'Elegante.

Left to right: La Furtive, L'Elegante, La Exuberante and La Fascinante

I really wish I did not buy this, the opaque and creamy formula only makes this shade look terrible on me. For nudes I prefer sheerer formulas.

I bet on fairer skin tones La Furtive will look beautiful. But it is not a shade for me.

Ratings: 2+ lipsticks

  1. I wish you had shown pictures of yourself with the shades on. Either way, there is a bunch of things you can do to avoid these lipsticks getting wasted. You can always mix colors or use them with different lip liners or lip glosses so the color combination will suit your skin tone better. And if neither of these work, you can always organize a giveaway to your readers, lol

    1. Hey Gabis, thanks for your suggestion, I always thought it was a faux pas to giveaway things that I have used, so I have a stash of what was I thinking items I don't know what to do with. I usually do fotds when I go out kills two birds with one stone. Smokey eyes and nude lips are not easy to photograph at night :)

  2. Estee Lauder has a similar shade from their Long-Wear range - semi-pigmented and smooth application.

    2. I have Crystal Vlush, Bois de Rose, Fireball & Lame Luminizer. The nude shade I'd mentioned..I lost it on the day of purchase some 2 weeks ago. Very heartpain~!!

Will swatch the last 3 shades sometime this week.

    3. Oh no! I hate it when that happens especially when you have your heart set on using it Fireball sounds like an excellent shade, I keep a lookout for your swatches.

  3. The formula looks so gorgeously creamy and smooth. Pity the shade doesn't work for you alone, I suppose you could always use it to tone down lippies that are too dark or use it when you do smokey eyes.

  4. Oh my that's a lot of Rouge Allure Velvet. My fave shades are 31,32,33 but I only have 33. I am surprised you buy 31 as this is a more nude shade :) I think you'll look great in nudes too! There's always a time to try something new :)

    1. I definitely ill because the Roufge Allure Velvet is such a wonderful formula. I'll line my lips with a darker lip pencil I guess.

  8. Ahh I'm sure if I got this the same thing would happen! It's not so easy to find good nudes with our skin tones. Maybe you can try to layer a pinky gloss over it?

  9. Gorgeous swatches! :)

You could also use a lip liner underneath to transform it into something you like more. Good luck!

    1. I will definitely do that, I'm thinking a more brown or coral based lip liner underneath, what do you think?

  10. I dont have any of these .. yet. :P But I love how L'Elegante looks! Have your tried topping the nude with a gloss? I do that sometimes and it works (unless you want to maintain that velvet finish)

    1. I do want to retain the velvet finish but I'll give anything go. You have to try these my dear, the finish and formula is heaven. I think L'Ravissante would be a colour you would enjoy too, it is a coral peach shade.
