Sigma Brushes Haul and Review and Give away! CLOSED

I am on a roll hauling brushes. Some of my brushes are getting old and splayed and I'm hell bent on replacing them. I had such a wonderful experience with my Hakuhodo brushes. But they can be quite expensive so I decided to get some wallet friendly Sigma brushes and at the same time compare them.

This was my order.

CodeItemQtyPriceGrand Total
F40Large Angled Contour - F401$14.00$14.00
E30Pencil - E301$9.00$9.00
E70Medium Angled Shading - E701$9.00$9.00
E55Eye Shading - E551$9.00$9.00
E25Blending - E251$9.00$9.00
E65Small Angle - E651$9.00$9.00

Shipping was quite fast, I received my package in two weeks. My brushes came in a nice little red mesh pouch.

All the brushes were protected with a plastic sleeve.

There are exactly the same length as my MAC brushes.

The wooden handles felt sturdy. I chose the Large Angled Contour brush because I did not have one like this. This costs USD $14 and is made of natural bristles. I am most disappointed with the white coloured brushes especially this one. I found that this brush shed the most. During wash, at least 5 strands fell out and more fell out after wash and drying. It also had a pretty funky smell even after I washed it twice. I don't expect it to be as soft as my Hakuhodo brushes so for its price it was quite soft. Blush application for this brush is on the sheer side. It does not pick up too much pigment. I like the angled shape because it makes it easy to contour.

The Blending brush faired better. It did not shed but looked a little splayed after wash. This brush was soft and did what it was supposed to.

The pencil brush picks up quite a bit of pigment, really good for the hard to reach places. It is soft but not as dense as my Hakuhodo version.

The eye shading brush is wider than my MAC Fluff brush. Great for blending or for all over lid wash. I did  not like the fact that while applying my eye shadow, this brush shed a few hairs on my lids.

The medium angled shading brush is great for patting eye shadow on lids. It is soft and picks up a good amount of pigment.

The small angle brush has stiff bristles and is quite precise. I use this to either smudge my eye liner and set my eye liner with shadow. It works well as an eye brow brush or to apply gel eye liner too. Very useful.

Overall, I am quite happy with most of my brushes. If you are a girl on a budget, Sigma brushes are a good place to start your brush kit. Prices are really affordable even with the shipping at USD $14.39. I also managed to get a 10% off using a promo code. Shipping and delivery was quite fast. My order went through without a hitch.

Personally I think you can get eye brushes from them. The eye brushes do their job, they don't shed and are quite soft. You can also get the synthetic brushes because ultimately they aren't made of animal hair so I am guess the quality can't differ that much.

I would rather spend more to get better quality face brushes. I feel that for the face, it is worth getting soft and dense brushes because it makes application easy and a joy. You never want to pack too much on your face especially with blush and face powder.

D.U.P Eyelashes Fixer Ex. Holy Grail Eye Lash Glue!

If you like putting on false lashes, you know how important a good eye lash glue is. I need to let you know that you have to, yes HAVE to get this because it is the best freaking eye lash glue evah! Yes it is even better than DUO.

I came across this through the make-up blogette's post about her favourite things. If she says that it is better than DUO glue I knew I had to try it. So I went searching on Ebay. It is quite easy to find it and it cost me SGD$16.70 including shipping to get it sent to Singapore.

There are three tubes available, Clear Type, Black Type and Rubber Type. I picked the Clear Type. I don't recommend black eyelash glue at all unless you are an expert and are able to place your lashes precisely all the time. Black glue is visible and will smudge up your eye make up if you are not careful.

I wish I could give you a clearer picture of the brush but my silly camera refuses to focus on it.

Anyway, I love the brush applicator. It makes application a breeze. No more squeezing glue onto a cotton bud and figuring out where to put the cotton bud while you wait for it to get tacky. I hate that part, I don't have a good place to put my cotton buds and they tend to roll off and stick onto my dressing table.

The consistency of the glue is runny but once I apply a thin layer of it on to my false lashes I can apply my false lashes without waiting for the glue to be tacky. My lashes stay in place almost immediately and it dries very quickly too. The clear types dries to an invisible finish. Even after many applications onto my false lashes, the glue does not leave a shiny glaze.

It does not sting my eyes and the best part, they are also easy to remove after. By the way, you should remove false lashes using a cotton pad soaked with eye make up remover. My initial foray with false lashes left me with skimpy lashes because some of my real lashes came off together with my false lashes when I peeled them off.

The last time I tried to peel off my falsies with Ardell's Brush On  Lash Adhesive, a couple of my own lashes came off to my horror and anguish. With D.U.P. I could peel them off with very little pain and loss only a single eye lash came off.

This is a great nifty little product and I recommend this to everyone. Try it please!

Edited to add:

A very sweet blogger by the name of Elaine is selling this at her blogshop called Beauty Palace Sg. Go check it out!

Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Intense No. 9 Rock Sand Review and Swatches

Since I heard and saw the swatches for GA's Eyes To Kill Intense, I have been dying (no pun intended) to get my hands on some. I received this precious gift from my bestie D while she was on holiday in Hong Kong. (Thanks so much D!)

I had this for a very long time so I sincerely apologise for not posting the swatches and reviews any sooner. I also realised I posted a look with Rock Sand even before I posted the review and swatches. My bad!

(Taken from Giorgio Armani website)

HIGH VOLTAGE 24 HOUR EYES TO KILL SHADOWS

This innovative hybrid texture, which is not a powder, nor a cream acts like a smooth, lasting color film. Each shade is intensified with a second pigment for a multi-dimensional effect. In just one swoop, create a wet, shimmering smokey eye. Base color covers eyelid, and second pigment adds drama to the contour.

The technology: Color-FilTM,  for the first time in an eyeshadow. A new high resistance bi-polymer enables the formula to perfectly fit the color to the eyelid with cushiony suppleness, for a never seen comfortable long wear.

Twenty four hour color wear, crease proof, flake proof, waterproof and sweat-proof,  Eyes To Kill Intense Eye shadows slide on, stay on, but wipe off in an instant. Apply wet or dry with fingers or the Armani large eye contour brush.

ETK comes in a nifty little glass pot with 4 grams of product.

To keep the shadow in place and from drying, there is a little cap placed on top of the shadow.

In my opinion, ETK is a powder shadow that acts more like a cream shadow. It is very dense. When I dipped my finger into the pot and made a swatch, I was wowed by the intense pigmentation with one swipe.

No. 9 Rock Sand is a champagne colour with hints of gold. More sparkly and gold than Stila's Kitten. I did a water test to see how it fared.

After a rinse with water

After a rinse then rubbed

As you can see, after being rinsed with water and then rubbed, the shadow still stays in place although it isn't as intense when first applied. When I wore it to work ( my work day is usually 10 hours or more) I was very happy to see that it stayed put till the end of the day and still looked great. Perfect for oily lidded girls like me.

My little gift came with a ETK catalogue. There are a total of 16 shades available.

I'm lusting over Purpura and Sweetfire.

ETKs cost USD $32. Yes it is a hefty sum to pay for a single eye shadow but I think the quality speaks for itself.

You must be wondering how does Rock Sand compare with Chanel D'Ombres Emerveille.

Left to right: Emerveille and Rock Sand

Top to bottom: Rock Sand and Emerveille

ETKs are dense loose eye shadow whereas CDO are more of a wet gel texture. Rock Sand stands out as being more pigmented and intense as compared to Emerveille. They are actually very close in shade. Perhaps Rock Sand is more champagne and Emerveille is more peachy. If you already own more, it is not necessary to get the other in my opinion.
