Dior Addict in 545 Fire review and swatches

 

I have been bugging the SA at Vivocity every time I go there for this lippie. There is never any stocks even when she promised that she would bring it in for me. I got tired of waiting and decided to try my luck at Tangs Orchard and viola I am a proud owner of Fire.

This was the lipstick that made me venture into trying Dior Addicts. I had to try this shade because I have a terribly obsessive compulsion to own all orange and coral lipsticks. I am glad I took the effort to get this because it is such a special orange shade.

It is a creamy and glossy sheer orange with no shimmer at all. Just the way I like it. I don't really like shimmer in lipsticks.

Fire with MAS Spice lip liner

I have pigmented lips so unfortunately Fire isn't as bright on me. More of a muted orange. I bet fair skinned ladies will have a blast with Fire. I used MAC Spice lip liner underneath so it does not look as orange like in the tube.

Fire with MUFE Aqua Lip Liner in 17C

For the above lip swatch, I covered a thin layer of GA Luminous Silk foundation and added MUFE Aqua lip liner. The colour looks brighter now. I think I am going to experiment to see how I can bring out the true colour of Fire. I definitely intend to use a concealer under Fire. I don't particularly like the MUFE Aqua lip liner. It is drying and leaves a very obvious lip line. I prefer a creamy lip liner.

I took out Chanel Sari D'eau for a comparison. Sari D'eau is a tad darker has a hint of red coral. It is has a pearly finish instead of a creamy glossy finish.

Fire is truly a unique orange shade for summer. Because it is both sheer and creamy it is a lot more forgiving and easier to experiment with. You can do a muted orange to a full blown orange depending on what you layer underneath it. I am loving the new Dior Addicts especially the ones without shimmer. Although they don't last long, they make you lips look juicy and healthy. Definitely a worthy splurge!

Bluebell and Fruity Lashes have the best lip swatches on fair skin and arm swatches too. My camera didn't do it justice. Check them out!

Shiseido Shimmering Rouge in Iron Maiden review and swatches

I am lipstick crazy these days! The Shiseido Shimmering Rouge in Iron Maiden has been on my wish list since I heard about it. Everyone talks about how moisturizing and how it glides onto lips that I just had to try it myself.

There are a total of 13 shades. After swatching the available shades, I came home with Iron Maiden. A fuchsia with shimmer. I'm not sure why but I'm not totally excited by the colour selection.

It comes in a sleek tube that can be easily slipped into a pocket for touch ups. It is made of metal so It has heft and feels cool to the touch.

With sheer lipsticks, it is advisable not to turn up the lipstick too much. They can be quite soft. Don't leave them in cars too! Lest it breaks on you and causes heartbreak.

It glides onto my mouth but does not slip and slide all over the place. It is definitely more pigmented than the Chanel Rouge Coco Shines and lasts slightly longer too. It does feel gritty on my  lips which I do not like. I think it is from the shimmer. I notice that after a meal and after wiping my lips I still see bits of shimmer clinging onto my lips.

Shiseido Shimmering Rouges cost SGD $43 a dollar more that the Dior Addicts. This puts it in the premium lipstick range. I don't know, as much as I love the the colour of Iron Maiden I'm not excited about it as a whole as much as Chanel and Dior. I'm such a snob!!! I don't think I will be buying anymore colours.

Dior Addict in Nude swatches and review

I resisted getting the Dior Addicts because I did not like the old Dior Addict formula. I owned two in the past but sold them away. But I'm terrible, I am easily swayed by popular opinion. It didn't help that I was bombarded by fabulous reviews and swatches. I had to get one to try.

After seeing swatches of Fire, I knew that was the one I had to get. Fruity Lashes and Bluebell have great swatches of Fire.

Unfortunately, Tangs Vivocity did not have Fire. I was hell bent on getting one so I swatched everything I could get my hands on. I am currently turning towards nude colours for a change. So I wanted a nude MLBB (my lips but better) shade that would not wash me out.

I finally settled for Nude in 333.

Nude is a creamy semi sheer nude colour. It is slightly glossy without any shimmer. On its own, it can make me look slightly washed out but when paired with MAC Spice lip liner it truly becomes a MLBB shade for me. Dior Addict is very moisturizing. It glided on my lips without being slippery. I applied this a couple of times throughout the day, each application made my lips look like I just freshly applied lipstick in the morning.

Dior Addict is not long lasting. It wears away after meals. But I don't really mind reapplying, it is fun to whip out the Dior Addict. Although the casing is bulkier than what I am used to, I quite like the Dior casing. It lacks the sophistication of Chanel's black casing but it is fun and shiny! I love shiny things. 

I paired it with my Ellis Faas eye shadows in Milky Eyes E308 and Lights in E305. In order not to look washed out, I made sure I emphasized my eyes by applying black eye liner. Looking at this fotd I realize that I should put on more blush.

I am loving the new Dior Addict formula. I can't wait to get my hands on Fire. I am definitely going back for more colours. At SGD $42, it belongs to the premium lipstick range. Honestly, I don't mind paying for it.

Tangs Lipstick Haul

I traded my credit card points for Tangs vouchers and immediately knew what I wanted to buy. I wanted to try out the newly released lipsticks from various brands. I decided to get Shiseido's Shimmering Rouge in Iron Maiden and Dior Addict in Fire.

Unfortunately, Fire was not in the counters yet. I resisted getting a bright lip shade and after much swatching I decided to go for Nude.

Iron Maiden was the only shade I was interested in, so it was an easy selection.
