Chanel Ombres Perlees De Chanel Spring collection 2011

(Picture taken from Chanel website)

The new Chanel eye palette is, I think something very different from the rest of the collection. It has a different formulation as compared to the normal Chanel eye quads. I have not tried the duos nor the singles before so I can't comment on its quality.

It was quite hard for me to decide between the Regard Perle quad and the quint. I love both shade combinations but eventually I decided that I wanted this more because it looked more wearable on me.

The quint comes in a soft plush velvet pouch to help get rid of those pesky fingerprints left on the luxe black casing. Interesting enough this is made in Japan, I assumed it would be made in France. It comes with two sponge applicators and a little brush applicator. There is also a plastic thingamagig that covers the eyeshadows and helps protect the eyeshadows.

It contains 5 soft shades with a pearl finish. It looks quite different in different lighting so I took some under bright sunlight and indoors. I turned it this way and that to try capture the shine.

It is soft to the touch. Not really very creamy but not hard as well. It is softly pigmented especially the champagne and pink shades. It takes a few swipes for the colour to appear on my lids. The darker shades were a tad more pigmented. I find that using the sponge applicators works well for me. The swatches below were swatched dry. Couldn't bear to do wet swatches though. Sorry! Anyway I did try them wet on my lids. The colours stood out and were a lot more pigmented. These had great staying power with no fall out at all.

All in all, I love this palette. Very in line with spring, full of soft colours that complement each other. It seems to me like it is a cool palette but I'm still able to make the colours work for my skintone. My favourite shades are the plum and green grey shade. If you are into strong colours, this may not be a palette for you.

Chanel Rouge Allure Coquette Spring Collection 2011

The Chanel Rouge Allure in Coquette is another one of my buys from the spring collection. I skipped the Rouge Cocos in Peregrina and Jersey Rose because I did not like the formulation as much. I didn't buy Flamboyante Rouge Allure because it is described as a strawberry red. I like my reds but don't need so many of them. When I opened up Coquette I noticed immediately that it was a much warmer pink than Insolente. I'm not sure why but I thought that Coquette would be more of a vibrant pink like Insolente.

Strange though, when I placed Coquette and Insolente side by side, they look quite similar when I took photos. Insolente being more of a blue pink.

The sky was quite downcast when I took the earlier shots. So I decided to wait till it got brighter. Somehow I failed to get a good shot of Coquette. The above shot looks too dark!

You can definitely see the difference in the swatches. Coquette is a warm peachy pink that looks brighter on lips than when swatched. You can see that Insolente is a bubblegum blue pink.

I really love the colour. With the muted fresh peach blush combined with a bright rose pink lips, perfect for spring.

Chanel Joues Constraste blush Espiegle Spring 2011 Collection

I definitely have way too many peach blushes but I just couldn't resist Espiegle. Chanel Joues Contraste is by far my favourite blush. I love everything about it. The lovely rose scent, the fine milled texture and how it sinks into my skin and creates a fail proof flush on my cheeks. I will never stray from Joues Contraste unless I can find a colour that Chanel has not created. I have forsaken all the rest of my powder blushes for Chanel.

I saw the swatches for Espiegle and had to have it. It is different enough from Reflex for me to justify buying it. Whereas Reflex is a shimmery deeper peach coral. Espiegle is a light peachy shade very much befitting of spring.

Under bright sunlight
When I opened it, I was like ah............. gorgeous. All that peachy shimmery goodness. The shimmer isn't obvious at all. Like most Joues Contraste, it is perfect for oily skinned ladies. It does not emphasize your open pores. I think this blush would look beautiful for light to medium skin tones but will probably not show up on darker tones. I swept the Chanel blush on my cheeks a few times for the colour to show up. From then on it stayed put until I took it off.

I'll do a comparison of all the peach blushes I have for you to have an idea of how Espiegle compares with the rest. Soon. :)

My Nordstrom haul has finally arrived.

The reason I have been so quiet is, I am waiting very patiently for my Nordstom haul to arrive. Until it came, I swore to myself not to buy any makeup items. Well, I finally collected my package from my mom last night and I was very excited. I wanted to see the Chanel items I bought.

You must be asking why would I buy from Nordstrom, is Chanel much cheaper online than in Singapore? Not much actually, I saved only a few dollars for each item. Its just that I couldn't wait for the Spring Collection to arrive into Singapore and I wanted to make sure I get my hands on the new eye palette. In order to get free shipping, I also bought some other items I wanted. I'm sure the MAC I bought for cheaper. I'm not sure about the Bvlgari lotion, I did not try to find it in the local shops.

So this is a breakdown of what I bought. Bvlgari's body lotion in au the blanc. I fell with the scent last year while staying at the Fullerton. They had the whole range of toiletries by Bvlgari, DH and I love the scent. I'm not a perfume person but I do love my scented lotions. This goes for USD$49, SGD $63.

MAC Fix+ great for freshening up the face just before you apply your makeup and during the day. USD$19, SGD$24.50.

Ah..... my Chanel Spring 2011 haul. I bought Coquette Rouge Allure, USD$30, SGD$38.60. SGD$44 at local counters. Joue Contraste blush in Espiegle, USD$42, SGD$54.10. SGD$63 at local counters. And the piece de resistance the Ombres Perlees De Chanel quint for USD$65, SGD$83.70. SGD$95 at local counters.

I love ordering from Nordstrom because they give some amazing freebies.

I paid SGD$28 for shipping. I am a very happy lady right now. Can't wait to dig into my Chanel items and use them. Reviews and swatches soon!
