Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua B30 Sable Swatches and Reviews

I have been wanting to try this foundation ever since I read about it. Being a noob like myself, I did not realise that it was available in Singapore until I read from Makeup Blogette about her rave. I went to get some samples to try but they only had B20 which was too fair for me. In a fit of crazed beauty fanatic, I got colour matched and bought a whole bottle without even trying it on.

The tiniest drop of this new hybrid fluid creates a fresh, natural complexion. Skin looks refined and feels refreshed, creating an exquisite makeup experience. The fluid formula has a soft, water-light texture, and comes in 10 shades that match perfectly to skin’s undertones, whether pink or beige. Dermatologist-tested. Non-comedogenic. Oil- free.

My experience at the Chanel counter at Robinsons was not the best. The SA there was very new, her hands were shaking while helping me. She picked B20 for me. When I said that it was too fair, she picked B50 much to my alarm. I remembered that the SA at Vivocity mentioned that B30 would be a good match for me so I asked for it. I had to apply the shades on my chin myself to check. I was a little worried about my purchase.

B30 thankfully is very close to the rest of the shades I have. When first applied, it is a tad light but after a while matches my skin tone.

Singapore counters have a total of 5 shades if I am not mistaken. B10 (Pastel), B20 (Tendre), B30 (Sable), B40 (Desert) and B50 (Sienne). Chanel website lists 10 shades split into two undertones, BR for Beige Rose and B for Beige. The BR shades also have the same numbers and shade names. Karlasugar has great swatches here.

Vitalumiere has the runniest consistency of all my foundations. It is so light, I don't feel it on my skin at all. I find it easier to use my fingers to blend this. Dot and blend, dot and blend. It dries very quickly so dotting your face all over then proceeding to blend may leave you with some streaky areas. This can be layered with out looking cakey or thick. Just add more on problem areas and blend. I have been using this for about a week, not once have my makeup looked overly made up. Coverage is sheer as it does not cover my acne scars or pigmentation marks even thought I have layered more on my spots. Vitalumiere gives a natural matte finish.

I apologise for the smudged mascara!

See, it does not cover my pigmentation spots. It only gives me an even complexion.

I am not sure whether it is because of the super hot weather lately but oil-control lasts only about 5 hours. These 5 hours are in non-air conditioned environment where I sweat alot. By lunch time I do need to blot my forehead and nose. It did not survive a dance class either. After class I had to blot my face but then it was as good as new.

I prefer to use this as my weekend foundation because iIt provides light coverage. It sells for SGD $75 for 30 ml. It is a nice foundation but not HG material for me. It will suit those who already have good skin to begin with and those who want to delve into foundations and hate to feel foundation on their faces.

I wore this out for my exotic dance class.
