Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 02- Brown Review

I'm falling in love with all my cream/gel eye liners again because of my Smashbox Arched Eye Liner. Read my rave about it here.

I need a brown eye liner and since this has some great reviews I thought I would give it a try.

(Taken from Maybelline website)

Only our oil-free formula can hold highly concentrated pigments in a clear gel base.
So color is more intense and lines resist wear for 24 hours.
Smudge-proof and Water-proof.
The most intense line for lasting drama.

It comes in 4 colours. Black, brown, grey and plum.

It comes in a nifty little glass container and a very useful stiff eye liner brush that is just perfect of lining eyes. I love that the liner is really good. I hate it when companies decide to give you crappy makeup applicators. It is just not right! Especially higher end brands!

I like the shade, nice and dark without looking like black. It is a creamy soft shade with no shimmer at all. It glided on my arms. Lovely. I decided to test drive it without any primer just to see how the colour looks on my eyes.

It takes a while to dry, I made the mistake of blinking, hence the smudging on my crease. I need to try this on with my full eye makeup for the work to see if it lasts well though.

I ran my arm through water to see if it stayed put. Yes it did.

This is what it looked like after some serious rubbing. Pretty good eh? That being said, eye lids are very different from arms. I'm not sure if it will last on my oily lids. We'll see.

I am happy to add that it lasted well for me for half a day (thats about 5 hours) when I wore it to work recently. No smudging or creasing. It does take some time to dry so make sure it fully dries before blinking.

For its price about SGD$20 I think it is a great gel eye liner to have. The quality is quite comparable to MAC's Fluidliner and Clinique's Cream eyeliner.

Edited to add: I downgraded my ratings because after using it for about 7 months, the product dried up and made it very difficult to apply.

False Lash Tryout

I never had luck wearing lash eye lashes, I don't know how to put them on properly. When I do finally get them on, they look very wierd. I have since decided that I don't need them or want them ever!

I popped into Sasa a few days ago to buy some containers. The rows of false eye lashes were mocking me. I stopped by and sneered at them in return. I think the SA must think I was crazy. She asked if she could help and I asked if there was any implement out there that could help a noob like me. Well I left the shop with this.

Plus the cheapest lash glue and set of falsies I could find.

The diagrams look kinda easy right? How hard can it be?

Place freaky looking falsies like so on this pink thingamajig.

Use the pink clippy thingy and pick up said freaky lashes. Put cheapo glue on the end wait for it to be tacky and stick on! Viola! The noob that I am, I stuck it on the wrong eye!!! No wonder it looked so wierd. So I tore it off and tried again.

Wah I look like a drag queen! I hate these lashes, it feels heavy.

The pink implement does make it easier for me. In the past, I couldn't even get the falsies to line up properly along my lashes. Still I had a hard time adjusting the two ends. By the end of it, I was sweating buckets. It still looks awkward and awful but I'm quite encouraged. I think I'll buy a more natural Ardell set to try out next time.

What do you think? Does anyone have tips for me? Pretty please?

Giorgio Armani Face Fabric No. 3 Review

I have been lemming this foundation for ages. I really love my GA Lasting Silk UV Foundation, it is my Holy Grail foundation but I wanted something lighter and sheerer for the weekends. My Coogi Flowertox BB cream wasn't cutting it any more because somehow my skin tone has turned darker so it looks very obvious that I have foundation on.

I was quite torn between choosing this or the new Face Fabric Radiance. But since my skin was still on the slightly oily side, it was more practical for me to get this. You can check out reviews and swatches of GA's Face Fabric Radiance here at Karla Sugar. It was a good choice. Karla mentioned that Face Fabric Radiance was quite sparkly and I don't think it would have suited me.

Face fabric is an invisible makeup with a 3D Micro-fil technology.

Its unique Micro-fil™ formulations bring lightness and fluidity to makeup, allowing infinite blending and layering to enhance the natural glow of the skin.

A subtle, neutral palette is accented with two shades - porcelain and apricot - to be used alone to create a healthy-looking glow, combined with any of the shades to boost the color, or alone to sculpt or highlight the complexion. For normal to oily skin, providing sheer coverage.

CEW 2009 Face Product Prestige Award Winner.
Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Award Winner.

I chose No. 3 described as Natural Beige for my NC30-35 skin tone. It was just the perfect shade. Totally melted into my skin.

The texture of Face Fabric feels like that of its Fluid Master. Much like a primer with colour it glides onto my skin. It feels totally different from the Lasting Silk Foundation. I tried it with fingers and with my foundation brush, there is no difference to how it looks on my skin. It provides sheer coverage so it is really good for ladies with clear skin. For myself, I needed to use my MAC Select Cover-up concealor to disguise my acne scars on my cheeks and my dark spots. By mid day by face was slightly shiny but a little dusting of powder set it right.

This is a splurge for me. I couldn't wait till Friends and Family sale to get my hands on it. I still think it is worth its value. GA always has a special place in my heart.

Edited to add:

Oh wow! I wore this just today, I was under the hot sun sweating away. (I was kite flying, don't ask me why I wore makeup for kite flying, I can't explain either.) After that I had dinner. I went to the toilet to check out my makeup guess what, It was not oily at all. It was still intact and oil free. Oh wow! I'm in love!

Makeup Forever HD Blush First Kiss Review

This is the second MUFE Blush that I bought. First Kiss is described as a bright apricot. You can read my glowing review of MUFE HD Blush over here.

Both my MUFE blushes side by side. First Kiss on the left and Quickie on the right.

On to some swatch porn!

Major intense pigment. Sheered out version on the left side.

I'm loving this colour slightly more than Quickie. It is a lovely bright summer coral shade.

This is how it looks like on my cheeks when it is sheered out.

Makeup Forever HD Blush Quickie Review

I was very eager to get my greedy hands on these blushers. I have heard many good things about it and really want to try them. I had a hard time choosing colours, everything looked so good. Since I'm in a coral/peach phase I decided on Quickie described as Salmon Pink.

These are really tiny. This is a MAC lipstick for size comparison. There is about 10 ml of product. I paid USD$25 for this. I didn't want to wait for them to reach Singapore because I'm sure it will cost much more.

When I opened the box I was pleased with my colour selection. Quickie looks right up my alley.

It comes in a convenient pump bottle. The best part about this is you can control how much you pump out. Unlike GA Fluid Sheers, I never seem to be able to give it a little squeeze. With this pump, it is really easy to control how much you pump out. I have heard that only a tiny little bit is needed so for my first attempt I gave it a little squeeze. Even then it was too much and had to wipe of the rest. What a waste!

This was taken just outside my window in the afternoon. You can see that it is intensely pigmented but sheers out prettily. It dries out when left out in the air so don't take too long a time to blend your blush. It has to be kept in an air tight container, thus the bottle with the pump to ensure no air goes in. I won't advise you to decant and put them in little containers. I think the air with affect the quality of the blush.

I blended out the swatch on the right side. As you can see, you decided how intense you want your blush to be. I haven't had a chance to do a FOTD with this yet. Soon, soon. :)

I can honestly say it was love at first application. I used my fingers to gently pat this on. It was silky smooth and blended out easily. The colour was so pretty and it lasted the whole day (10 hours) without any reapplication. It still looked fresh at the end of the day. I still have oily skin issues but that was not a problem. Quickie didn't slide all over my face and It did not emphasize my open pores.

It is also worth its price. This little bottle is going to last me a long time.

I'm loving this so much that I'm seriously thinking of getting more.

Giving my samples some camera lovin

I am super excited about the samples I received from my recent Nordstrom haul. I'm dedicating a whole post just to show you the samples I've scored. I'm totally going to use everything on myself!

First up, the Caudalie sample set. It came with the Beauty Elixir, Day Perfecting Cream and Night Correction Cream.

DAY PERFECTING CREAM SPF15

This SPF15 cream absorbs rapidly and helps to visibly improve the appearance of dark spots and enhance the brightness of your complexion. Protected from the sun and environment and moisturized all day long, your skin is luminous and your complexion radiant. Leaves no white residue.

NIGHT CORRECTING CREAM

This nourishing night cream helps to diminish the visible signs of dark sports while renewing skin. Upon awakening, your skin is smooth, your pores appear tighter and your complexion is even and radiant.

Who is it for?

For those who wish to regain a bright, radiant, and even complexion. To eliminate existing dark spots and prevent the appearance of new ones (pregnancy mask, scars, age spots, sun spots, and spots due to hormonal imbalance...).

The next bag of goodies comes with a bright turqoise cosmetic case. Look at what's inside.

Okay let's do a sample breakdown.

Mini Essie nail polish in Tart Deco. I'm kinda lazy, a picture speaks a thousand words so I don't think I need to say much. Just that I'm absolutely floored by the number of samples given.
