Shu Uemura High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Fresh

I was reaching out for my Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil when I realised to my dismay that there wasn't any left! I was hunting around in my cupboards for my backup. I usually keep an extra hiding around somewhere but no such luck. I was totally out of makeup remover. I had to dig out my MAC makeup remover wipes which I only use for emergencies and make do with them. MAC makeup wipes cleans throughly but it leaves my face with a slight stinging sensation which is quite uncomfortable.

I was heading down to Vivocity. Unfortunately, I could not find a Fancl counter. I had $50 worth of vouchers from Tangs so decided to head over there and find another cleansing oil. I decided to give Shu Uemura a go.

I love cleansing oils because when it comes to makeup removal, they are the best. Everything comes off. I don't mind the oily sensation because after all when it is washed away, the skin is squeaky clean. The SA recommended me the pink bottle called the High Performace Balancing Cleansing Oil Fresh. I have oil and acne prone skin, so the SA said that this would be most suitable for me. I paid $56 for the 150 ml bottle.

Taken from the website:

Shu uemura cleansing oil was developed from the knowledge that mr. uemura gained while working as a foremost hollywood makeup artist in the 1950s. the secret to shu uemura cleansing oil is protecting the skin’s delicate balance while removing make-up and impurities in a single step.

Key ingredients:
Cherry Extract: refines skin texture by smoothing skin surface and helps bring radiance

Deepsea water: found in the deep sea below depths of 200 meters. naturally provides moisture to skin, and helps to enhance skin transparency and improve skin

It was definitely more pricey than Fancl. I usually pay $33 for the 120 ml Fancl Mild Cleasing Oil and $19 for the 60 ml version. Shu Uemura is priceier.

Well this cleanser has a nice subtle floral frangrance of cherry blossom, grapefruit and lily. My foundation melted right off. I used a few drops of water to emusify my face and after massaging I washed if off. My face felt clean. It didn't give me a tight feeling. Overall, it worked well.

It has a pump mechanism. Unfortunately, the first time I pumped quite a bit of product came out. Way too much. Even when I try to pump slowly and carefully, a large amount of product comes out. It is frustrating and wasteful. For the amount I paid, I want to make use of it as long as I can.

In conclusion, Fancl works just as well. When it comes to price Fancl still beats hands down. I will defintely go back to Fancl once I finish using this bottle.
